Where to Stay in Namibia

Namibia is a perfect place to escape to for outstanding natural beauty and really wide open spaces.  This is a country where you can still drive a couple of hours without seeing a single soul, and is the best antidote to a life in the fast lane.   Namibians are among the most hospitable people in the world and are waiting to welcome you and show you their unique country.  Namibia accommodation is plentiful, but does tend to fill up quite quickly in the main tourist season, which is from May to September, and it is wise to book and plan your trip well in advance.

There are hotels in Namibia to suit all tastes and budgets, but the large distances between towns does mean that in some areas you will have limited options, and the 5-star category of hotels and lodges in Namibia are primarily limited to the main tourist attraction of Etosha and one or two of the major cities like Windhoek and Swakopmund.  There is a good choice of cheap accommodation in Namibia with a range of budget hotels, bed and breakfast or guesthouses in the main cities.  In Swakopmund the place to go is Meike’s Guesthouse or the Namib Guesthouse, both of which get exceptional reviews, while in Windhoek the Villa Moringa Guesthouse is very popular.

Namibia Accommodation off the beaten track

Most people come to Namibia to get away from the cities and into the bush or the desert.  This is the place to go for an adventure holiday or to take advantage of some of the best photo opportunities you will ever find.

A must-see on every tourists list has to be the incredible sand dunes of the Sossusvlei.  A lot of people choose to camp nearby, (this being big-sky country where there is an emphasis on camping under the stars) but there is a luxury Lodge for those who prefer a little more comfort; Le Mirage Dessert Lodge, Sossusvlei Lodge, Sossus Dune Lodge and Moon Mountain Lodge at Sesriem are all 4-star and would be your closest luxury option to the dunes.  There are several less extravagant choices here such as the Namib Dessert Lodge, The Desert Homestead and a few really good value tented lodges like Desert Camp and Agama River Camp.

Luxury Namibia Game Lodges

If you are planning a visit to Namibia you simply cannot leave without visiting Etosha, for a true one-on-one experience with Nature.  Here there is an amazing concentration of wildlife for you to enjoy, and if you really want to do it in style, book into one of the Luxury Namibia Resorts in Etosha, such as the Epacha Game Lodge where you can enjoy a wilderness experience in 5-star luxury.

Okaukeujo Resort is a less pricey option in a good position within the Etosha National Park, while Namutoni Lodge at the entrance to the park is another possibility.  Browse our listings to find where to stay in Namibia and discover the best deal on hotels and resorts in Namibia.
